I was really disappointed by this book. I was hoping for something a little different, after seeing a lot of Jack Slomovits' other work (he gets a LOT of mileage out of that window in his apartment!), but there isn't anything truly special about these pictures. I think the best way to describe it is to say that these aren't "photographs" they're just pictures. Sure, they're sexy -- what pictures of 2 guys having sex WOULDN'T be? -- but they're not beautiful, and I was hoping for more. I'm putting my copy on ebay... 'fraid this one isn't a keeper.

Jack Slomovits' new book Sex in the West Village is a feast for the eyes. His subtle lighting and composition produce sultry black and white photographs that stay with the viewer. The individual prints stand alone as powerful images, and combine to create a narrative that is both alluring and provocative. Bravo!

Jack Slomovits delivers the boys of New York in a series of highly suggestive images. These guys are fresh to the city and eager to explore their own boundaries, bodies...and other boys. The photographer documents their sexual adventures in a photojournalistic style that puts you right in the center of their action. A visual turnon from start to finish!
