Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Goodnight monsters everywhere, in this parody romp with its own special twist!

Goodnight tomb. Goodnight goon. Goodnight Martians taking over the moon.

Its bedtime in the cold gray tomb with a black lagoon, and two slimy claws, and a couple of jaws, and a skull and a shoe and a pot full of goo. But as a little werewolf settles down, in comes the Goon determined at all costs to run amok and not let any monster have his rest.

A beloved classic gets a kind-hearted send up in this utterly monsterized parody; energetic art and a hilarious text will have kids begging to read this again and again.

5 out of 5 stars A new family tradition   November 20, 2008
I surprised my wife, daughter, daughter in-law, and grandkids by sending them Goodnight Goon for a halloween present. I ordered two books online without anybody knowing. My grandkids ages 2,3,5, and 7 loved the books and the surprise that grandpa sent a present to their homes for Halloween. They loved the spooky pictures and had to read it 6 times the first day. The artwork is wonderfull and not too scary. The story really kept their attention. This book is great for any time of the year. Of course every year during halloween, Goodnight Goon will have to be read. Our whole family still reads Goodnight Moon.

5 out of 5 stars Gotta Love This One!   November 11, 2008

Goodnight Goon: a Petrifying Parody, by Michael Rex was released in October --just in time for Halloween.

"Goodnight tomb. Goodnight goon. Goodnight Martians taking over the moon."

Attention ...............Goodnight Moon fans, this beloved classic gets a kind-hearted send up in this utterly monsterized parody. This time there are spiders, bats, gravestones and skulls in the a cold gray tomb. The tone is still rhythm and rhyme. The illustrations are colorful and just fabulous as is the story; very cleverly done. The book was scary enough, but not too scary for a young child.

This book is a keeper!

5 out of 5 stars The perfect book for Haloween season!   November 4, 2008

Reviewed by Cayden (age 4) and Max (age 2) Aures and Mom for Reader Views (11/08)

"Goodnight Goon" is written in the tradition of "Goodnight Moon" with a monster-ish twist. In this book we say goodnight to various creepy things like tombs, hairy claws, screechy bats, mummies, and the "old werewolf hollering `Boo.'"

Cayden: "A book about goons?!? Cool!"
Max: "Goons!!!"

Cayden: "This is kind of like that other book we have except it looks scarier!"
Max: "Scary! Rrrraaaarrrr!!"

Cayden: "I liked this book because it was scary and I like goons and monsters! My favorite part was the part with the hands with the claws on them, when we said goodnight to them! I liked looking at the pictures too! There were lots of scary things. I liked how it was like the `Goodnight Moon' book."

Parent's comments:

I knew right away when I saw this book that my sons would love it! Ever since "Little Bunny Foo Foo" they have enjoyed anything related to "goons." One of their favorite books is also "Goodnight Moon" so I was sure that this book would be the perfect fit for them and I was right! They thoroughly enjoyed the parody from start to finish and wanted me to read it over and over again. "Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody" by Michael Rex is the perfect book for the Halloween season!

My daughter loves ghosts, bats, spiders, and anything related to Halloween, so we purchased this book recently. It has been a big hit. Not only is it well written, the illustrations are wonderful. The pictures are so detailed that my daughter is constantly discovering new things in them. She loved "Goodnight Moon," so she can relate to the text as well. This book is incredibly well done. It's fun for adults as well as kids.

5 out of 5 stars Enchanting Review: Goodnight Goon   October 30, 2008

GOODNIGHT GOON: A PETRIFYING PARODY
MICHAEL REX
Children's (ages 3-5)

Rating: 5 Enchantments

A monster inspired take off of `Goodnight Moon', GOODNIGHT GOON sees a little monster getting ready for bed and saying goodnight to all the ghoulish monsters and things in his room including a picture of Martians taking over the moon; a loud screechy bat and a hairy old werewolf. My particular favorite is the monster under the bed, who tries to sneak away on the young monster.

Filled with bright, colorful imaginative illustrations, and fun spooky text, GOODNIGHT GOON will no doubt soon become a bedtime favorite.

Michael Rex lives in the Bronx, New York.
