Product Description Like the first edition, the updated and revised Second Edition of the Teaching Reading Sourcebook combines the best features of an academic text and a practical, hands-on teacher's guide. Designed for all educators, it provides an indispensable resource for teaching reading and language arts to both beginning and older struggling readers. Like it's predecessor, the 2nd Edition of the Teaching Reading Sourcebook reflects the most up-to-date and scientifically based reading research on reading instruction available today and serves as a bridge between research and practice. This 2nd Edition has been completely revised and updated according to the latest scientifically based reading research. Like the earlier edition, the textbook design and organization reflect the elements of explicit instruction. Each section in the 2nd Edition of the Teaching Reading Sourcebook is divided into chapters that are organized around the components of explicit instruction: What? Why? When? and How? What has changed? Two new chapters have been added to the Reading Fluency section; New and revised Sample Lesson Models are more explicit; Lesson models include suggestions for Corrective Feedback; A new chapter has been added to the Vocabulary section-Word Consciousness; Expanded chapter on Letter Knowledge; A more comprehensive chapter on Multisyllabic Word Reading; The Afterword includes information on the Three Tier Reading Model; More suggestions for English language learners. Along with the primary authors of the 1st edition, CORE has assembled a group of Contributing Authors, respected in their field, each contributing their expertise in a specific area of reading instruction. (Many are college professors who have used the Teaching Reading Sourcebook in their own classrooms).
