Product Description

The rough and rugged Talions, sexy warriors who stop
at nothing to deliver justice, star in this steamy new
paranormal series from Alexis Morgan.

He's on a mission to annihilate the enemy.

A Talion enforcer, Ranulf Thorsen has served his people for a thousand years, delivering the eye-for-an-eye justice by which his kinsmen live. Weary of the centuries-long fight, the fierce warrior with icy blue eyes has secluded himself on a mountain far from the chaos of the modern world below. Now he's been summoned to face the most dangerous battle of his life -- and the fate of his people is on the line.

But when he meets the beautiful woman
he has sworn to defend...

Ranulf and his bitter rival, fellow Talion Sandor Kearn, must find the rogue Kyth who set a violent fire in a nightclub. The near-deadly blaze's unlikely heroine, Kerry Logan, is also a Kyth, possessing the ancient Nordic people's unique ability to manipulate human energy. She just doesn't know it yet.

...who will protect his heart?

Kerry finds more than comfort in her warrior's embrace, and Ranulf hungers to both defend and claim the petite powerhouse for his own. But with time ticking away and their lives on the line, will Kerry believe the wild tale he's telling her, and master her powers...before it's too late?

3 out of 5 stars Brave, new world   September 24, 2008

Ms. Morgan thought of a great mix of power, justice & violence in her storyline. I thought her characters, Ranulf & Kerry were admirable & strong. Nice enjoyable read, just thought it could have used a little more intensity.

5 out of 5 stars New serires with unique powers   September 15, 2008

Reminiscent of vampires in that this group of people feed off humans, soaking in their life essence. For the most part they are benign, since they normally feed off of the happy energized crowds. Unfortunately, like most societies, there can be rogues, a creature that prefers feeding off on the pain and suffering of humans. When a rogue shows up, the Grand Dame of the society calls on her strongest, scariest hunter to stop him--Ranulf. Ranulf is called in to investigate the latest criminal activity with his people when he encounters Kerry. It doesn't take him long to discover Kerry is one of them, yet Kerry has no idea.

I thought it was a great new series. The pace was very fast and complete with action. I really liked the by-play between Kerry and Ranulf.

3 out of 5 stars Not impressive   September 10, 2008

I'm an avid reader of paranormals but had never read anything by this author before. The plot was decent but not great, and there was little chemistry between the the main characters or between/among any of the other characters. I did like the female lead (Kerry) in places - she wasn't very well written in general but she was likeable at times.

When I read an author I like I immediately buy any other books by them that I can find and devour them until I run out. I might read some of Ms. Morgan's other books if I ran across them, mostly based on the positive reviews here, but I won't seek them out.

Who new Vikings could be so exciting in a modern age? Makes me wish I had my own Viking to look after me! Excellent book. Can't wait until the next one comes out.
