Book Description
Traer Scott travelled to Puerto Rico and Mexico to capture these remarkable and soulful photographs of dogs living alone or in packs on city streets. Since many street dogs were formerly pets, they are often friendly, approachable and eager to be adopted into new homes. As Scott documents in her introduction, she witnessed and assisted in the rescue of many of the dogs she photographed for this book; thanks to the collaborative efforts of Puerto Rican, Latin American and US organizations, these dogs have now been adopted into new homes both in the United States and Mexico. It features 90 irresistible, soulful portraits and outdoor photographs of street dogs. It is accompanied by a beautifully written, illustrated introduction by Traer Scott on her experience of photographing and rescuing street dogs. It includes a mini biography of many dogs featured, with details about their rescue and journey to a new home, and contact.

5 out of 5 stars Buy this book!!   May 24, 2008
I treasure this book. It is beautiful and heartbreaking. Traer Scott courageously sticks her neck out to bring us haunting images and stories. Both this book and her book Shelter Dogs are money well spent.

4 out of 5 stars Touching   February 10, 2008

Street Dogs was an extremly touching book of photos of so many forgotten, hungry, yet vibrant puppies and dogs.
It is so sad to see these beautiful creatures struggling to survive.

Traer Scott has a real talent for capturing the heart and sole of one of these beautiful dogs just through their eyes. As in Shelter Dogs I found myself with a lump in my throat throughout the book.

A smart buy for anyone who claims to be or is a dog-lover.

This book gives us an idea of how street dogs in Puerto Rico and Mexico live. Scott's unique perspective is amazing and sad all at the same time. Best thing about this book is that a portion of the proceeds is donated to the ASPCA; worth buying it just for that! Buy this book along with her book Shelter Dogs and be prepared to get teary eyed! Thank you.

Like her previous book "Shelter Dogs", "Street Dogs" captures a whole range of dog emotions. She is a very talented photographer and apparently is not afraid to go the extra mile to get the photograph she wants.
