| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This volume accompanies a traveling exhibition-curated by art historian and critic Deepak Ananth and supported by Hermes, Paris-of the work of two well-known but unrelated Indian photographers, Raghubir and Dayanita Singh. Raghubir Singh's photographs focus on the iconic Indian car, the Ambassador, which was modeled on the British Morris Oxford. In these oftentimes abstract photographs, shot mostly in the last years of Singh's life, the doors and windshields of the cars become the frames to the images. Dayanita Singh's work is taken from two recent Steidl books, Sent a Letter, which poetically documents Singh's recent travels in India, and Go Away Closer, in which Singh considers opposites in India: presence and absence, reality and dreams, tradition and progress.
