I don't know why everyone is so excited about this book October 9, 2008 I've been looking for a new urban fantasy to hold me over until Kim Harrison's next release. After reading all the glowing reviews of this book, I went ahead and bought it, despite it's cover. I thought the plot dragged, the exposition sparse and the main character uninteresting. All in all, I think it's a boring book that lacks originality.
Enjoyable First Book October 1, 2008 I tend to like this style of book. It reminded me of the Dresden Files with a harder tilt to fantasy. The Heroine is tough, has power, has secrets and is willing to sacrifice for what is right. The bad guys are powerful and interesting. I will definitely continue to follow this series and recommend it to Dresden fans.
It was ok, but.... September 24, 2008 I found the book a bit confusing. Too many forgetful characters and an anti-climatic end.
I'm addicted... September 13, 2008 I cannot wait for the next book to come out. My husband commented that this was the fastest he's ever seen me read a book. Normally I read for 15-30 min before bed but I could not stop reading this series. It reminds me of early Anita Blake before she got all kinked out and lost my interest. I recommend this to any reader who likes urban fantasy with sexual tension. This is really a great read!
Great new series September 3, 2008 It is always a pleasure to find a new and unique new series. I was not interested in this series at first because the blog just didn't call to me, but after witnessing so many fabulous reviews on this book I wanted to know what all the hype was. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this book was just as fabulous as so many reviewers implied.
The story is bursting with mystery, danger, action and suspense. I especially liked the futuristic world of magic created by Andrews. It was very well thought out. I also liked Andrews characterization. Most paperbacks are not known for creating such well-rounded characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.
