Product Description
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans ruled the West from the silver screen as the King of Cowboys and and Queen of the West. Off screen, this husband and wife duo raised a family and lived the "Code of the West." Now, in this new book, the Rogers family shares their memories of Roy, Dale, and Trigger, along with their other sidekicks and more than a hundred never before seen, behind-the-scenes photographs.

5 out of 5 stars Happy Trails = Happy Memories   February 23, 2008
I grew up watching Roy and Dale on TV but even though they were part of my life, and one of the reasons I still love horses, I learned a lot about them as people in this great book. Really glad I bought it.

4 out of 5 stars Picture Book   February 8, 2008
I liked this book and plan to always keep it. It contained a lot of the same pictures I have seen over the years and I would have liked more "never seen before" photos. It is good to have so many of them though in one book - like a photo album.

This was a gift to my mother, Roy Rogers' best fan. She likes it very much. I also liked it very much. It is a good biography of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.

5 out of 5 stars A gorgeous, highly recommended keepsake   February 8, 2005

Other books have been written about Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, the king and queen of B Western movies for over a decade who went on to produce a hit television show for ten years thereafter. None contain the rare family photos paired with personal reminiscences which make Happy Trails: A Pictorial Celebration Of The Life And Times Of Roy Rogers And Dale Evans such a memorable keepsake and winner. Happy Trails is simply packed with private photos from the duo's childhoods, early singing careers, marriage, and family life, alongside more familiar publicity shots from their films and show. A gorgeous, highly recommended keepsake.

4 out of 5 stars illustrated, popular biography of the famous cowboy couple   January 26, 2005

The long marriage and professional relationship of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans throughout the 1940s and '50 is presented in a mostly sunny light, as it was in their popular TV series and movies. Not that there aren't some dark moments: Roy Roger's first wife died; and three of the couple's nine children died. But while the sorrows of such moments are not overlooked, it is the strength of Roy and Dale which comes shining through, as when dealing with culprits or problems in their films. The popular, largely pictorial biography contains a number of heretofore unpublished family photos. Fans of these stars of early TV and aficionados of popular culture will take to this book. While not undermining or even threatening the fond popular image of the couple, it presents them as not just stars, but ones who had a life outside of the limelight as well.
