Book Description This is a one-stop reference for any new owner of a digital camera-whether an experienced or novice photographer. This digital photography guide explains what a digital image is and what makes it different from a traditional film photograph. Each technique for using a digital camera-from producing high-quality prints to preparing images for e-mail for the Web-is accompanied by stunning color photographs that will inspire amateurs and professionals alike. All necessary terms such as megapixel, color depth, memory cards, and data compression are defined. Explanations of the latest computer hardware, scanners, software applications, and printing techniques are also given. Step-by-step instructions for creating stunning effects with the leading image manipulation program, Adobe Photoshop, and other software are provided.

| Customer Reviews:
Somewhat dated and biased August 23, 2008 The primary difficulty in any kind of digital photography handbook is how rapidly the technology is changing. This book, published four years ago, but probably written five years ago, is a prime example. There is some good basic knowledge here for those who are entering digital photography for the first time, but newcomers to the technology are probably not going to find any of the finer features of their cameras mentioned at all. Coupled with the strong bias toward Nikon cameras by the author, someone with a strong affinity toward another brand - Canon, in my case - will not find support for non-Nikon features except in passing. My suggestion: get a more up-to-date book, perhaps one dedicated to your favorite camera.
