Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Children will immediately respond to Eric Carle's flat, boldly colored collages that are combined with Bill Martin's singsong text to create unforgettable images of endearing animals. Author: Bill Martin Jr Illustrator: Eric CarlePublisher: Holtzbrinck Publishers

Amazon.com Review
The gentle rhyming and gorgeous, tissue-paper collage illustrations in this classic picture book make it a dog-eared favorite on many children's bookshelves. On each page, we meet a new animal who nudges us onward to discover which creature will show up next: "Blue Horse, Blue Horse, What do you see? I see a green frog looking at me." This pattern is repeated over and over, until the pre-reader can chime in with the reader, easily predicting the next rhyme. One thing readers might not predict, however, is just what kinds of funny characters will make an appearance at the denouement! Children on the verge of reading learn best with plenty of identifiable images and rhythmic repetition. Eric Carle's good-humored style and colorful, bold illustrations (like those in The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, and Have You Seen My Cat?) have earned him a prominent place in the children's book hall of fame. 5 out of 5 stars Sweet brown bear   October 9, 2008
Never get tired of this one... love that sweet brown bear and all his friends

3 out of 5 stars Repetitive, but that's the idea. Young kiddos, remember?   September 27, 2008
There are days when I am just thoroughly annoyed by this book.

And yet it remains a classic, and I grudgingly agree.

How can anyone not love the awesome repetitive rhymes and varying colors and animals? And how can you not get chills at how these animals are all staring at each other?

The original of interactive books and still probably the best.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for young readers   September 26, 2008
Great book. My son's favorite. At 9 months of age he knew it by name.

5 out of 5 stars a must have!   August 20, 2008
I started reading this book to my son when he was 12 months old and since then he has always loved reading it. The words are flowy and interesting enough to capture his attention. A definate must have in a toddlers bookshelf!
