 YAY!...The couple was heterosexual! August 20, 2008
I read Invisible Life and Say a Little Prayer and had decided I would not read anymore E.Lynn Harris' books. To my pleasant surprise, he decided to write about a heterosexual couple, so I decided to give him another shot.
In this book, Brady is the only child of Carmyn. Carmyn is estranged from her family because she refused to place Brady up for adoption after she thought she had been raped and could not figure out who his father was.
Brady is a big football star and Nico, an agent, wants him really badly. To bring Brady into the fold, he uses the feminine wilds of Barrett/Bethany/Raquel.
Just when Nico has Brady just where he wants him, Nico is busted.
The book was very good.
PROS: Excellent writing, interesting storyline, great character development
CONS: Brady's celibacy claim just was not believeable as it was written by Harris; the side characters (Shelby, Zander, Maybelline, Lita) could have been left out; they really added nothing to the story.
 Slightly Disappointed August 18, 2008
The story was very predictable. I continued to read hoping that my predictions would be wrong, but I was correct on each one. Making predictions and then finding that I couldn't be further from the truth, makes for interesting reading for me.
The book was an easy read and Mr. Harris continues with his vivid descriptions of people, places and things that make you feel as if you're a fly on the wall.

I love E. Lynn Harris. Just Too Good TO Be True was excellent! A great story about the strong bond between a mother and a son. It shows the determination of a young single mother to raise her son the best way she possibly can. I loved the different characters, the way they were developed. The best part was having Basil in the story line. It's a page turner. I read the book in two days. It was well worth the wait. If you are an E. Lynn Harris fan, you won't be disappointed.
Nobody's perfect and that is quite obvious now August 17, 2008
I hate having to wait so long for E. Lynn to release books but I'm glad he put his all into this one. It was a really great story of how a perfect relationship could go sour because of interference. I hate the fact that we still have parents with morals of those from the 50's. Even though in that era there was much less teenage pregnancy and more marriages that stayed tight. People have to realize the times and stop being so judgemental. I can't believe Carmyn's parents just basically disowned her because of her mistake. Carmyn really went through. She lost her first love and was traumatized by a lie for most of her life. Also Brady did not have access to a loving father during his most crucial years of life. His childhood. I remember that Nico fool from another book with Basil as a sports agent. I'm glad he got his because that was sickening. I'm so happy that after all the pain and sorrow that Brady and Carmyn went through they can finally be happy. I love books with good endings and after this one takes you through many trials and tribulations it is good to know the ending is worth the wait. Very well put together story and I congradulate E. Lynn on its success. Hopefully we won't have to wait so long for another book. Every two years is crazy.
Worth the wait! August 15, 2008
OMG E.Lynn! This book was AWESOME!!! Couldn't put it down until I finished it! Thinking about reading it again, just in case I missed something! But you know this was just a teaser! It was worth the wait but now you just have salivating for more! So now you've got to "come on wit tha come on!"
