Product Description
Richard Mayhew is a young man with a good heart and an ordinary life, which is changed forever when he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. His small act of kindness propels him into a world he never dreamed existed. There are people who fall through the cracks, and Richard has become one of them. And he must learn to survive in this city of shadows and darkness, monsters and saints, murderers and angels, if he is ever to return to the London that he knew. "A fantastic story that is both the stuff of dreams and nightmares" (San Diego Union-Tribune), Neil Gaiman's first solo novel has become a touchstone of urban fantasy, and a perennial favorite of readers everywhere.

The Wizard of Oz with more bodily fluids May 23, 2008 I loved the book but it pretty much is the Wizard of Oz, if Frank Baum had been allowed more wry wit and (again) lots of bodily fluids!

It is so awesome to hear Neil do the voices for all the characters in this book. It's an excellent, exciting story, and the audio cd actually made me look forward to my drive to and from work for a while.
Wonderful listen/read April 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you like Neil Gaiman stories read to you, this is (again) a wonderful listen. I prefer Neil to read to me, and thus this is a wonderful set of discs. If you have not had Neil read to you, then you are in for a treat. Many consider this Neil's best novel, I am not sure I would say it is his best, but I do so love it and the TV series it started out as was fun, but this is a great piece of fiction that most anyone should love It is at heart a romantic adventure story, but it much much more than that as are all of Neil's works. It is fun and serious, dark and up lifting and has many a sharp point to make while not beating you in the head with them, or treating you like you are stupid. You many feel a twing once you realize them, or just have a smile cross your face, but you will feel good when done no matter your point of view compared to Mr. Gaiman's.
