Product Description
You can run from the grave, but you can't hide . . . Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind. Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Terrific Follow up! May 2, 2008 I really liked this book. I thought it was a great followup to the original story and had a satisfactory, open, ending that will easily lead into the next book (I HOPE!). Great love scenes and great fight scenes. The author really fleshed out (haha) Cat's team and I like them as much as I like Bones. Great characters, story ties together well with the first book and gave enough info to set us up for the next one. I highly recommend this book - but read the first one first or you'll miss some great jokes.
Fantastic Sequel! April 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
One Foot in The Grave was exactly where I wanted to see the story line go. Once again Jeaniene Frost sucks you straight into the world of Cat and Bones. If I say too much I am afraid I might ruin the book for others. I just have to say, if Halfway to the Grave left you with any feelings of injustice for Cat and/or Bones, One Foot in the Grave will clear all that up and put a smile on your face!
Very much worth the wait! April 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book was worth waiting for. What can I say, chemistry is still there between those two, now even more then ever. One complained earlier that Bones didn't seem mad at Cat for leaving him, I wasn't even expecting him to be, after all she did explained she did it for him. I was expecting relief for finding her again and that was what I got. I was wondering what will be Jeaninene's solution to Bones beeng forever young and pretty, while Cat is not a full blooded vampire. And the author did find a beautiful solution to that! There are some unexpected twists and turns that at the end of the day made me happy. And should leave You happy too if You like those two together. So stop sitting on your arse, get up and buy that book!
I know it would be a tough break for the author, But I want to see books about them coming and coming!
Fantastic Followup!!! April 29, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have been anxiously awaiting the release of One Foot in the Grave since the moment I finished the first book in the Night Huntress Series --Halfway to the Grave -- in October. My hope was that the sequel (One Foot in the Grave) would be every bit as good as the original. Guess what? It's even better!
The witty sarcastic tone of the first book (along with Cat's hilarious inner banter) is even more honed than before. This book retains the perfect balance of romance, suspense, action, and humor that made book one such a joy to read (and re-read.) The humor is funnier, the romance is sexier, the action is more edgy, and --as unbelievable as it seems-- Bones is even hotter. I would be lying if I said I wasn't grinning like an idiot throughout much of my marathon read today.
The main characters have evolved without changing the core of who they are. I was pleased at the presence nods to some of the characters from book one, and there were new characters that quickly become important to the reader, (which I hope to see again in book 3, At Grave's End)
All in all, it was everything I hoped it would be, and more. There is no doubt that Jeaniene Frost is comfortably finding her place amongst the most talented authors in the genre, and I expect to see many more great things from her.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll just order takeout for dinner and curl up for a reread of my new favorite book.
Great Sequel for Urban Fantasy Vampire Fans (B+ Grade) April 29, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Cat is back and One Foot in the Grave is one of the best sequels I have read in a long time. Jeaniene Frost has written a new super-heroine that can play as dirty as the boys and won't take the injustices of life sitting down. The only other character I can compare her to in recent memory are Anita Blake from Laurel K. Hamilton or Eve Dallas from JD Robb. One Foot in the Grave takes place four years into the future. Cat is no longer that naive, uncontrollable girl with a chip on her shoulder. Cat has grown into a sharp and intelligent woman who still kicks butt and comes up with the best comebacks and one-liners you can imagine. Cat is still a bit down on herself in terms of self-esteem and still thinks of herself as an outcast. She has become the head of an undercover group that works for the government. Even though she was basically blackmailed into taking this position, she has fought very hard to be in control and the "go to" person in almost every situation that arises. Cat is half-human, half-vampire, and the department she works for is comparable to Homeland Security but for watching and experimenting on vampires. The powers that be want to know where vampires come from and how they can be stopped. In Halfway to the Grave, Cat hated her vampire side, now she is more comfortable in her skin and embraces it in a way. And the reason she does is due to her vampire lover she had to leave behind, Bones. Cat has a hard time giving and receiving love, but when it came to Bones she was a goner. Cat has a lot of questions about her lost love. Has Bones wandered the world looking for her? Has he totally forgotten her and gone onto another lonely girl? Could Bones be dead? All these questions will be answered in ways you will not believe! I guess you can say it is not much of a spoiler since Cat and Bones are the ultimate couple, so you can expect to see him make an appearance. And with his appearance, Cat is yet again launched in uncharted waters. Bones may come across as a witty playboy type of guy, but he has great insight on a person. One Foot in the Grave has quite a few twists and gasps that I did not see coming. Every thing comes out with a bang and you will meet some over the top characters that will make you laugh till your stomach hurts. And, the other thing Jeaniene can do very well is write a good quality love scene. One Foot in the Grave is an excellent, paranormal urban fantasy that did not disappoint in the least. Jeaniene tightened up certain problems I had with Halfway to the Grave and wrote a story that is fast and furious. One not to be missed!
