4 out of 5 stars Sets up the next book perfectly   August 24, 2008
J.R Ward has an amazing way of setting up the next book.

At the end of the first I was dying to know more about Rhage (whose story this book primarily featured) and now I am dying to know more about Zsadist (who is featured in the next).

The only bizarre part about this book was that Beth and Wrath (who featured in the first) were barely in it. And I still can't get into the Mr X, Mr O plot line. But its nice to get to know each member of the Brotherhood.

*runs off to read the third book*

5 out of 5 stars How could I not...   August 13, 2008
I love this novel just as I did the first "Dark Lover", how could I not. OMG!! I am in love with BDB, but I have to say Mary got on my nerves! That woman was so back and forth she drove poor Rhage up the wall. A vampires love is deep especially once they have marked/bonded their female. He did so much 2 show his love and devotion 2 her and she could not understand y..GIRL GONE!! I'm towards the end of the 3rd installment by J.R. Ward, I'm loving every word..I'm truly a fan.

4 out of 5 stars Love Eternal great   August 10, 2008
i love the suspense and the drama and it shows if the least likely to fall in love still can.

5 out of 5 stars Great second book   August 6, 2008
Just as great as the first book. I hate the dialogue though! 'You feel me?'
I thought Rhage would have a much better back story than he did...oh well. Very ebtertaining. I'm obsessed at this point. Once again, the leading female was forgettable while the guys just jumped to life. I'm busting at the seams to read Zsadist's part next.

3 out of 5 stars I loved the ending, but I was annoyed with most of the middle of the book.   August 4, 2008
The beginning was very good and kept me interested. I didn't want to put it down. Most of the middle of the book was annoying because the conflicts between Rhage and Mary were created through vague communication and inaccurate assumptions - my pet peeve. Mary thought Rhage didn't like her. He was withdrawing because he was afraid the beast within him would hurt her, but he didn't tell her about the beast. He wanted to be with her and help her through her illness, but she didn't believe him and told him she didn't want him in her life. So he left. Another event happens that Rhage does not explain to Mary. She assumes the wrong thing and leaves him. Because of these inaccurate assumptions, I wanted to give the book 2 stars, but I gave it 3 stars for two reasons. I love the parts of the story about the beast, and I love this family of characters and their war against the lessers.

Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: seven. Setting: current day Caldwell, NY. Copyright: 2006. Genre: paranormal romantic suspense.

The books need to be read in order because stories start in early books and continue in the sequels. For a list of my reviews of other J.R. Ward books in this series, see my 5 star review of "Dark Lover" posted 1/09/08.
