Product Description
Beginning and advanced AutoCAD users (and everybody in between) can reap great benefits from this quick and easy guide to the complex commands of AutoCAD 14. Every command imaginable -- from those for measuring angles and dimensions to those for calculating mass or rotating objects in 3-D space -- is right here between the covers of this smartly-designed and well-organized reference guide! You don't have to memorize all those tricky features or special commands that make AutoCAD one of the most popular computer-design programs on the market. Just open AutoCAD Release 14 For Dummies Quick Reference to the alphabetical listing of the AutoCAD 14 program's extensive commands and find exactly what you're looking for. Can't remember the exact name of each command? No problem. Just scan the pages of program menus and toolbars pictured in the back of the book to find out where those commands are located. Befuddled over words like splines, islands, blips, or NURBS? Peek into the "Techie Talk" glossary and find concise definitions for all of the AutoCAD 14 program's terms and techniques. If you're using AutoCAD Release 14, then AutoCAD Release 14 For Dummies Quick Reference is the indispensable reference book for you.

5 out of 5 stars For power users   April 25, 2002

This is not for Dummies or Beginners. It's a pretty comprehensive list of commands and their use. AutoCAD is too powerful a program to condense down to something this small and have it explain everything on a Beginner's level. I guess I didn't expect it to be for Beginners, and since I'm a power user, that really made me happy with the book. Some of the commands in here aren't very well documented any where else that I have found. I've moved on to the next version of ACAD now, so I'm willing to part with it (see used listings) but I'll be looking for the Dummies book for the next version now.

4 out of 5 stars Good book for beginning CAD students   April 27, 2000

Our architecture instructor advised us of this book to get started in CAD design. Recommend this to new students who wish to dig into the program. Covers fundamental basics to R14 as well as provide a solid foundation to build from. Book does great job of addressing difficult areas such as plotting, layering, and scaling functions.

5 out of 5 stars This book is NOT for beginners OR dummies   February 9, 1999

If you do not have sufficient AutoCAD R14 training beforehand, this book is very difficult to access and/or find information. The book needs more graphic representations which show the results-especially the dimension commands. Finally, the pundits in parenthesis were annoying.
