Excellent book September 14, 2000 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Well written and thorough. I learned a lot of things that I would not have known had I just relied on the Adobe manual and books.

Clear, concise and to the point. The author is direct and plain spoken; the book is thorough and contains lots of tips and tricks.
Worthless April 27, 1999 5 out of 16 found this review helpful
I was hoping for at least a few templates in the CD part of the book. Templates allow one to explore the funcionality of the program and expand on one's knowledge, if any. I was very dissapointed. There are NO TEMPLATES IN THIS BOOK!
Great Reading! Helpful, To-The-Point, and Comprehensive. January 20, 1999 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
I have bought and read dozens of computer books for various programs. Nobody does it like Nigel! I actually read this manual cover to cover and couldn't put it down. His writing is personable and witty, his organization is "intuitively correct" (just as you are thinking a question, he gives you the answer), and his tips and tactics are SO HELPFUL! PageMaker was very intimidating to me because I was used to amateur programs that do most functions automatically. No offense to Aldus, but their manual made things worse. It was confusing and assumed that I knew things I didn't. Nigel was exactly the teacher I needed. I learned PageMaker's functions easily and even learned how to deal with tricky issues as they arise. I highly recommend this book to anyone who owns PageMaker or is thinking of buying it. Even if you already know the program, I bet you'll learn some great time-savers and handy tricks from this manual. P.S. The CDROM at the back has some cool programs that enhance PageMaker. Well worth the $$$!
