twice as good August 28, 2008 This book has fantastic financial advice. It teaches us how to make smarter financial decisions and how to be accountable for every dollar we earn. What made this a fantastic book for me was that is also had some wonderful advise for relationships. I learned a great deal about life reading this book. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who could benefit from sound financial and relationship advice. (who couldn't)
Thanks to DPYM: Credit Card Balance: $0 !!! June 18, 2008 This book helped my wife and I to get our view of money straightened out. We got out from under close to $10k of credit card debt in less than a year and have stayed out!
Antiquated, condescending, religious based drivel April 11, 2008 This book was an utter waste of time. Every other sentence is some drivel about "asking god for help" and "respecting your husband's place as the leader of your family."
If you are VERY old-fashioned, are a woman with no intention of being independent- either financially or emotionally- then check this book out.
If you want to really learn how to get out of debt and the basics of investing regardless of your income, check out "Smart Couples Finish Rich" it's the straight forward facts, worksheets, and exercises to actually help you.
This author should have stayed preaching her supposed knowledge to her bible study groups.
Learn how to manage money, not just save August 19, 2007 I have read many financial books. They seem to focus on investing money or just tell you to stop spending and save. This was the first book that gave me a specific plan on how to manage my money. When I read this book in April of 2006, my husband and I had nearly $9,000 in credit card debt. With Mary's steps to money management, we were able to pay off all our credit card debt and buy a house in just over a year. If you need specific strategies to save and manage your money to get and stay out of debt, this is the perfect book.
corny but good May 7, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The information was very helpful, and I have passed on copies to my married children. It is a little hard to get past the folksy style of writing.
