Disappointing May 30, 2006 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This book breezes through the basics and then isn't able to deliver on the advanced. There's very little information about the features and functions but I did find a section on how to dress!!! This is supposed to be about the program POWERPOINT, not about presentation basics.
I specifically wanted to understand more about programming templates and add-ins...nothing helpful at all, and sadly, not even enough for a beginner to get a good foundation in this very important concept in powerpoint and in all office components.
I was very disappointed and will be returning it as soon as I can wrap it up and ship it back.
Content without Soul May 17, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book has so much content that if you wanted to write an exam on PowerPoint, you could just remember the sentences in this book. What the book doesn't do is tell you why you would want to do things in the way Wempen explains. In a phrase, the book has no soul. It's just a compilation of what PowerPoint's menus can do in so much detail that it hurts.
Letdown CD April 3, 2006 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
The book is quite detailed but everybody can put in a few shareware programs and templates on a CD these days. This CD is a complete letdown. I wish they remove the CD and reduce the cost of this book.
Read the Bible! March 11, 2006 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
This easy read, easy reference format is awesome. I've been a PowerPoint power user for eight years. This is THE BEST book on PowerPoint I have ever used. I highly recommend it.

A good book January 25, 2004 47 out of 57 found this review helpful
I like this book best of all the PowerPoint books I have. One reason, it has a lot of tips for doing advanced things like custom animation, videos, etc. It also has these workshop lab exercises at the ends of the sections that give you a chance to practice things like a workbook. The CD is also good, it has lots of backgrounds templates and add-ins.
