Product Description
Photoshop is one of those programs that's so cool you just want to dive right in and start creating--but by plunging in head-first, without any guidance, you're likely to miss a lot. There's a solution: With this book, you learn by doing, getting your feet wet immediately as you progress through a series of hands-on projects that build on your growing Photoshop knowledge. Simple step-by-step instructions, review questions at the end of each chapter, and a companion CD with all of the book's project files make learning a breeze as the Adobe Creative Team takes you on a self-paced tour of the image-editing powerhouse. Completely revised to cover all of Photoshop CS's new features (including a new file browser, nonsquare pixel support, Layer comps for creating design variations, and more), the book starts with an introductory tour of the software and then progresses on through lessons on everything from Photoshop's interface to more complex topics like color management, Web graphics, and photo retouching.

Good for beginner - intermediate May 12, 2008 Very good tutorial step by step instructions for Photoshop. I was an intermediate user, and this has solidified my practice, and answered some questions I had about best practice. Comes with CD, perfect for anyone who wants to get started or brush up on skills.
a bit disappointed November 21, 2007 I was so looking forward to mastering this program with the help of this book/cd lessons. But there is a problem with the cd, it does not have all the same lessons on the cd as in the book??!! I am now on lesson 5 with no clue how to learn from this chapter. The lesson on the cd is not the same one used in the book under lesson 5. I guess between learning from the book/interent/and searching thur both hopefully I'll learn this. I guess there is no way to contact the author, there is more than one lesson that is messed up in the cd compared to the book. If your not use to working in photograph programs..(like me)..I would not buy this book. Way to many problems with the cd/book.
Great book to use for Photoshop CS October 27, 2007 Photoshop CS is a very powerful program and has tons of features. I really like the CS Classroom in a Book. With the use of the included CD the book lead me in a step by step procedure to learn about the features of Photoshop CS. The CD includes projects to work on while I am going through the tutorial lessons. At times, though, the book does assume that you know some of the ways to do some things. I, then, needed to experiment to see how it is done or where to find the feature mentioned. This is not all bad because the searching process is a good learning process. This book is a great way to learn to use Photoshop CS
A step-by-step photoshop guide October 6, 2007 I think this is an extraordinary book for learning photoshop. I had to purchase this as my textbook for school but i would say that anyone should buy it to learn photoshop. It gives step-by-step instructions to numerous projects which are included in a cdRom in the back of the book. If you're learning CS it's the perfect learning tool.
Had to look online for what I wanted to do August 15, 2007 I thought this would be a good book to learn Photoshop with because it came from the software maker. Unfortuately this was not the case. By following the book's instructions, I was not able to add a simple border to an image. I ended up doing a Google search from which I found the instructions on an online forum. As it turned out the Adobe book had left out a step of how to select the image. (You can't just click on the image) So, as a result of this missing step, the menu item I needed was grayed out so I couldn't add the border. Also, the pictures in the book are not in color, they are black & white only. This makes it difficult to figure out which tool bar icon they are trying to get you to go to.
I just bought another Photoshop book because this one is useless.
