I've had this book for a little over a year but when I first got it, I didn't really pick it up until about six months later. That was my first mistake.The book use to have an interactive web site with quizzes...it was actually pretty good. But I only got to use it for about 4 months before the site was shut down due to a merger (or something) with Sams Publishing. Ever since then I haven't really looked at the book.
The book by itself also has quizzes that are just as good as the ones on the web site. The tutorials in the book (if you can figure them out) are great. I learned tons of stuff and I didn't even get halfway through the book.
The worse part of the book is the errors...and lots of them. Several tutorials took me a long time to go through because I had to figure out what I was really suppose to be doing. Sometimes a tutorial would tell you to select a menu option but it would be called something different. Or it would tell you to press a hotkey that didn't exist, or press a hotkey "M" but what they really meant was "S".
If you can get over the errors and inconsistancies, (and there's lots of them) then the book will definately teach you some great stuff. But I'm sure you can find another book with less errors and just as much info.
Bottom line: I would have given this book 5 stars if there were no errors...even though the website no longer exists.
