5 out of 5 stars Entertaining and truthful   July 13, 2006

I really enjoyed this book, Janice Dickinson does witty, sad, sarcastic, and deep. This was entertaining. I recommend this book for a quick light reading.

1 out of 5 stars An Accidental Book   May 16, 2006

After reading the first 15 pages of the book, I was appalled at the numerous amounts of 4-letter words she used. A few 4-letter words are okay to make a point. But Janice couldn't write a book without using every other word as a 4-letter word starting with F and S. I am no saint, but there was too much profanity and not enough of her life as a model. She also put down other models, and called them "mutts", claiming she was the worlds first supermodel. I grew up with Janice and Gia and a few others, and I can tell you she was not the first supermodel. This book was written only to promote her upcoming TV show that airs in June of 2006. Janice needs to clean up most of her potty mouth and admit she has an inferiority complex that is in dire need of mending.

5 out of 5 stars A thrilling ride-- I finished it in one night!   April 29, 2006

From the cover photo, this autobiography looks to be little more than a typical Hollywood tell-all, featuring the name-dropping and exotic locales we all love to hate, whether we admit it or not.

Janice Dickinson's story has all that, but it also includes a hell of a lot more.

This is not a cinderella story by any means. Dickinson was a victim of incest and physical violence from her father, and the aftermath of those traumas certainly didn't fade when she eventually climbed to the top of the fashion world. Success and wealth affords one a lot of power, and with it the oppurtunity for disaster if no one if there to watch over those who sometimes forget to take care of themselves.

Dickinson's descriptions of the fashion world are utterly captivating; the struggle for an exotic looking brunette to find work in a world full of Nordic blue-eyed blondes was both baffling and frustrating, though her struggle simply made her success all the sweeter. There are truly hysterical moments as well, from her falling into the lap of Sophia Lauren at a Valentino show, to the escapdes of drunken debauchery with the late Gia Carangi, Dickinson shows us that humor is indeed good for the soul.

In conclusion, I highly recommended this autobiography for anyone who has overcome a tough past, and for anyone who has hope for a better future. The fashion and glamour is really besides the point--Dickinson is 'a triumphant survivor' and her story should be told to those who are stull striving to find their own way today, for without hope, there is no chance for a better tomorrow.
