the Larry Clark Coloring Book.... August 2, 2005 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The collection of photographs in Larry Clark's Tulsa are undisputably one of the most important and compelling photo essays executed. The book itself, the soft cover version, was a disappointment when received. It felt more like a coloring book. Pay the extra money and buy this in hard cover.
deeply moving March 24, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
captivating, disturbing, alluring, haunting. This work is powerful in its capture of youthfulness at its "edgiest." If you enjoy photography that captures all of the uncensored elements of life, then this work is a must.
Great book March 16, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
THis book is full of great photography and tells a great story through the pictures. It's a bit shorter then i thought it would be but it does a good job of illustrating Clark's teenage years.
Tulsa Changed The World January 28, 2003 10 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is the seminal work. Larry Clark's other masterpieces ("Teenaged Lust" and "A Perfect Childhood") build on this foundation. This book is a savage journey to the heart of the AmeriKan dream, and depicts Larry Clark growing up with cracker Oklahoma outlaws, shooting dope, and playing with firearms. Think of this book as the "drugs" part of Clark's sex, drugs, and rock n roll trilogy. Give this book to your mother for her coffee table.
Hasn't aged well January 19, 2001 6 out of 63 found this review helpful
Maybe for the time, it was groundbreaking, but today this book is a dinosaur.
