what a fascinating book March 17, 2008
I love, love, love this book. The photos of real families standing in front of a week's worth of food make me feel as if I know these people. For all our differences, humans everywhere need food. This book is the next best thing to sitting down to a meal with people all over the world.

I used this book as a teaching tool to introduce my middle school students to learning about how people in other parts of the world live. They fought over it! Excellent information, pictures, graphics.

I saw all the great reviews for this and decided to buy this because I had some extra money. It didn't disappoint. The photos were beautiful, of course, and the stories were interesting.
There was more text than I expected but I guess it was needed to truly bring out each family's story and show the human condition.
Besides the train, I also recommend reading it in front of a nice, cozy fire.
