5 out of 5 stars High Five   December 29, 2001

As a beginner learning Photoshop 6, this book helped me advance. It was easy to follow and offered great tips to create my digital works. I would recommend it to anyone.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   December 21, 2001

This is a case of riding on your reputation. Having seen some Scott Kelby videos, read many of his magazine articles, and bought a couple of his other books, I had come to expect more substance.
There was very little (if any) original work put into this book. Almost all the information here, has previously appeared elsewhere . A big percentage is intuitive, you could have figured it out without a book. A lot of it is irrelevant (as in "who would need to know this?"). Some of the topics (like getting rid of "red eye") are so badly explained that you'll gain nothing from reading them. The few (very few) new tidbits I got out of the book were not worth [the cost].

5 out of 5 stars As always more than five stars for Kelby   December 6, 2001

A wonderful and full of killer tips book. Stuff you would never learn in tutorials or manual. Scott kelby is defintly Photoshop Guru. If he doesn't know then nobody else does. This book has helped me in getting better acquainted with photoshop and love it each day more. You never stop reading this book, and you constantly discover new stuff in it. It has increased my speed enourmously. Thanks Scott ! Looking forward for your next book !

4 out of 5 stars Pretty darn great!   December 1, 2001

I am really enjoying this book, but I have to say, it's a mixed bag. I don't consider myself "advanced" in Photoshop (by any means) but some of the tips seemed pretty obvious to me. But I guess the point is - they won't be obvious to *everyone*. No one tip is unknown to everyone, right?

But still, some of it was basic stuff. Not a lot, but a little. Yet, it is a great book. Great to read, easy to thumb through. I am learning new things left and right. I am very happy I got this book.

I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a bit of a slim book for the price. Try to get a discount price on it if possible. And - don't expect to be amazed by *every* tip. Some of them probably will not be new to you. But it's still definitely worth a look. And it does have some insanely great tips!

Just read through the new book and I have to say it's a real good book. I run a Photoshop resource site and I got answers to shortcuts I always wondered about. A definite MUST have if you are into Photoshop.
