I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! April 30, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was recommended to me by a lot of my friends (12 and 13 year olds). I wasn't so sure at first, but A LOT of people recommended it to me and so I read it. This is now one of my favorite books! I LOVE EDWARD!!!!(he's sooooooooo perfect, except for the whole being a vampire thing but i could totally live with that!) Anyway I finished this book in about a day and i couldn't wait to get New Moon, I finished New Moon in about 5 hours. I can't believe I have to wait until August for Eclipse! If your smart you will read this book and New Moon also!
A Unique and Entertaining YA Book! April 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must admit I'm not a big Vampire fan. I don't usually don't read dark novels, so when Twilight was recommended to me and I found out what it was about I really didn't think twice about it. I had already decided I wasn't going to read it.
However, I passed by the book and for some reason it absolutely caught my attention. So, I purchased it. I read it in less than a day and found out that I really liked it. It wasn't as dark as I thought it was going to be, it wasn't gorey, or scary. It was a really well rounded novel and I love the description that Stephenie Meyer uses.
Twilight is about vampires, but not the Vampires we're used to reading in myths. However, these vampires are very intriguing. The main character Isabella Swan, known as Bella to everyone, moves from her mother's home in Arizona to her father's home in Washington. When she starts going to school she finds herself completely mesmorized by one guy, Edward Cullen.
He's a bit reclusive and keeps to himself and the other Cullens. When he is around Bella things become immediately tense and electric between them. Bella pretty much decides that she's done something to really make him angry with her, but then something disasterous happens which changes everything between them.
She learns [...] Edward and is led into a world she never believed possible. Edward is a vampire, but Bella is not shocked by this fact. The relationship between the two is dangerous and though Bella becomes aware of these dangers, she finds that being away from Edward is harder than anything else she's ever had to face.
However, things take a bad turn when another coven of vampires find their way to the Cullen's and to Bella. The hunt for Bella begins, but are the Cullen's strong enough to save her?
This is a really good book and I do recommend it to young adults and adults too. I plan on reading New Moon, which is the sequel to Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
Gripping. April 26, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Gripping. Stephanie Myers has managed to put a whole new twist in the vampire-mortal love story. Fast-paced, surprising, and enthralling, Myers has created an addicting story set in a completely real world. The heroine is spunky but oh-so likeable (and easy to identify with) while the hero is devastatingly alluring yet tormented. What other ingredients could you possibly need? I highly recommend this book (and its sequel--as if you'll be able to help yourself after reading Twilight) to any fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, paranormal romance, vampire stories, or romance fans in general. Trust me, you're in for a delicious treat.
Oh My god! April 24, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Alright, I'm 11 in the 5th grade and in an advanced reading level. I was totally bored out of my mind with nothing to read. Than one of my older friends highly recomended this book to me. I wasn't so thrilled about the idea of vampires, but i tried the book. It honestly is the best book i have ever and probably ever will read. I'm seriously not kidding. It's so romantic, and it gets better the further you get. I don't know what else to say. I can't even express how this book made me feel. It's unimaginably realistic. I can't even explain. You just seriously have to read this book! O my god I'm not kidding you.
Simply fabulous April 23, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I need to first start off by saying that I am NOT into vampire stories. I'm much more lighthearted and look for complex romances (not dark ones) though I do enjoy some good mystery and suspense every now and then. But I had heard only amazing things about this book, how it appealed to readers of any age and not just young adults. How the story of a vampire was so realistic, and the romance was just so believable. I then heard that the author and I were members of the same church, and I wanted to congratulate her for the immediate success in becoming a best-selling author, which is a great accomplishment. But I felt I needed to read the book first, so I did.
I was so impressed - I'm still impressed! I read the book in one day, which is not a small thing of this 500-page book. It's true that this is a book that can be enjoyed not only by teenagers. There are so many deeper levels than just the "high school drama," though it is also a very important addition. Decisions about love, life, and as the book cover implies, CHOICE. The way Mrs. Meyer weaves a dark fantasy into the real world so believably speaks highly of her ability to write and write well; I simply COULD NOT put the book down. The characters were enchantingly real, the plot was riveting, the romance was clean, and I was completely enthralled. Everything was described with ease, from physical traits to emotional strain, from the glint in Edward's eyes or the scent of the forest in the rain. The romantic angst, the mystery, the suspense, even the action later on was all perfectly penned, and I applaud the author in a job well done. It also touched me personally when my hometown in Florida was mentioned near the end of the book. Though I've found no email address available to personally thank the author for offering a fabulous book that I could delve into and avoid reality for a while, I think she knows what loveable characters she's created within this fascinating and new fictional world. She has a firmly founded fan in me, and I look forward to reading the rest of her series, as well as the other stories that she has in the works. Five stars, each well deserved. Bravo!
