5 out of 5 stars Welcome to the Tolle house   July 14, 2008

I read thePower of Now because there is no way that now is not very powerful, so, I thought, why not? Now he's at it again with this new book that's getting really good reviews from Orpa Winfrey. I was like, why not, again? Also I forgot to mention that Tolle has a beard like nothing I've ever seen before, which is impressive.

Many spiritual leaders have beards, and Tolle is no exception. Especially Buddhits, who Tolle resembles in many of his nonviolent ways, except if you think that egotistical is a weapon. In which case Tolle is egotistical enough to be deadly or at least controlling. This book makes me kind of think he wants to be the boss of me. Which is his own awakening, so who am I to argue with that? Maybe everybody is supposed to be the boss of everybody else. That is my awakening. I call my philosopy "Boss Love."

I would highly recommend this book to anybody who is searching for "meaning" in their life or have issues with depression or general unhappiness with their life.

5 out of 5 stars Attacks on this spiritual philosophy very Revealing!!!   July 14, 2008
It looks like wolves in sheep's clothing to see the attacks from supposedly good Christians on books like this one extolling the details on spiritual connection. Jesus was a revolutionary teaching that the Kingdom is Within and overturning the tables of the money changers in the Temple. Looks like we need more revolutionaries like he today!!!! So it is very Revealing just who stands up for what in their examples. Look carefully at these analyses people, for the Kingdom is close at hand and you don't want new age inquisitors messing it up. . . If you haven't heard of the newer quantum science behind these spiritual ideas, just read Dr. Rick Strassman or Amit Goswami, the Self Aware Universe. Or Graham Hancock, Supernatural: Meetings with the ancient teachers of mankind. The new quantum physics and mechanics realizations are helping us understand who we really are as eternal souls, and that includes everyone, not just so called good christians connected with powerful money-grubbing churches.

Sorry, maybe it's just me but I just don't get it. I'm more of a practical bent but this book required slogging through a whole lot of vapor to get anything out of it.

There are books you read where you have a hard time putting them down. Then there are books you have to force yourself to finish. "A New Earth" fell into the latter category for me. I had heard much of the Oprah-cized hype over the book which I met with high expectations.

At the end, though, it seemed over-reaching in its quest for spiritual profundity. Be mindful. Be in the moment. Be a human being, not a human doing.

You could have boiled it down to that and spared us all about 280 pages.

Confused about biblical principles. Not recommended. The bible is the best place to awaken to your purpose.
