Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

Personal vendettas, hidden treasure, and a monkey named Carl will send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most explosive adventure yet.

The Crime: Armed robbery to the tune of nine million dollars

Dom Rizzi robbed a bank, stashed the money, and did the time. His family couldn’t be more proud. He always was the smart one.

The Cousin: Joe Morelli

Joe Morelli, Dom Rizzi, and Dom’s sister, Loretta, are cousins. Morelli is a cop, Rizzi robs banks, and Loretta is a single mother waiting tables at the firehouse. The all-American family.

The Complications: Murder, kidnapping, destruction of personal property, and acid reflux

Less than a week after Dom’s release from prison, Joe Morelli has shadowy figures breaking into his house and dying in his basement. He’s getting threatening messages, Loretta is kidnapped, and Dom is missing.

The Catastrophe: Moonman

Morelli hires Walter “Mooner” Dunphy, stoner and “inventor” turned crime fighter, to protect his house. Morelli can’t afford a lot on a cop’s salary, and Mooner will work for potatoes.

The Cupcake: Stephanie Plum

Stephanie and Morelli have a long-standing relationship that involves sex, affection, and driving each other nuts. She’s a bond enforcement agent with more luck than talent, and she’s involved in this bank-robbery-gone-bad disaster from day one.

The Crisis: A favor for Ranger

Security expert Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, has a job for Stephanie that will involve night work. Morelli has his own ideas regarding Stephanie’s evening activities.

The Conclusion: Only the fearless should read Fourteen.

Thrills, chills, and incontinence may result.

1 out of 5 stars I had to return this book   August 30, 2008
I don't think this book even deserves one star. The story started out fairly well but derailed less than two chapters in. The lack of plot, flat characters and the sophomoric humor were pretty bad, but the hint of incest between Joe Morelli and his cousin made me gag and demand my money back. If only I could get back the time I wasted reading this piece of trash.

2 out of 5 stars Not very satisfying   August 30, 2008
I have been a loyal fan throughout her series. I have always waited excitedly for her next book. I always found them hilarious, quirky, and romantic. However, this last book I did not like at all. It seems it was done very quickly and I couldn't conect with the characters as I ussually do. Just very unsatisfied with this book. Ms. Evanovich needs to come up with some new ideas. All the characters seem like there are stuck in a time zone and don't seem to move forward. I would like to see something more indepth about the difference in relationships between Ranger and Stephanie and Moreli and Stephanie.

1 out of 5 stars Haven't read yet   August 29, 2008

I haven't read this yet waiting for the paper back. I just wanted to say I love the first few books, I'm up to Hot Six now, and have the rest,I buy them to add them to my collection but lately I have been thinking, How many more books can she write in this series, Soon it is going to get boring and overdone. I'll buy the 14 one just to have it for my collection. I hope that the book is better than some of the comments left about it

3 out of 5 stars Excellent series, but getting stale   August 28, 2008

Fearless Fourteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 14)
Usually I laugh out loud when I read the books in this series, but the last two have been disappointing.

Stephanie should be less "klutzy" with bounty-hunting by now, the situations are getting more contrived, silly, and less entertaining.

The romance between her & Morelli is losing it's spark. I like Morelli as a more mature character, but he keeps trying to box Stephanie up instead of backing her up. With his character being in law enforcement, it limits what he can do.

Ranger makes her edgy because with him there is no comfortable rut for her to fall into. With him she will not be sitting safely on the sidelines, becoming just another "Burg" housewife. One thing about Ranger, though, is that her always seems to be there to watch her back when she gets into a jam. Things are always a lot more interesting when he is around.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   August 28, 2008

I Have been a fan of this series but I think that it is now time to put this puppy to bed and she should write a series with Lulu and Tank (Ok I am only joking) but I am very serious about this series needs to end now because it is the same o same o stuff.

To have Morelli sleep with his cousin was kind of sick. That was the first part I didn't like...it would have been better if the woman was not related to him. When did incest become OK.

Stephanie is the same. Lulu still crazy and Connie is her usual loveable self. grandma????

I have really enjoyed this series. Book 6 will be my all time favorite.

Thanks
