Book Description The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2,000,000 copy bestselling inspirational book, The Power of Now With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now." In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence. The Power of Now was a question-and-answer handbook. A New Earth has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of lifeand for building a better world. About the Author ECKHART TOLLE is a contemporary spiritual teacher who is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. In his writing and seminars, he conveys a simple yet profound message with the timeless and uncomplicated clarity of the ancient spiritual masters: There is a way out of suffering and into peace. Eckhart travels extensively, taking his teachings throughout the world.

Content is Excellent, the Reading is Awful May 16, 2008 I'm convinced that Eckhart Tolle did not read this. Yes, it's his voice, yet it's robotic and devoid of passion. My GPS unit has more enthusiasm. The content is brilliant of course, yet the plodding monotone reading steals it's power. Stick with the book.
Certainly One of The Most Enlightening Books May 16, 2008 I have read many inspirational books in the last decade and this is one of the books in my top list, for sure. You have to read a second or more times to get what it meant for YOU. Although it mentioned Biblical sayings,it actually is the essence of Buddhism, Zen,and other religion: When I carry water,I carry water; when I chop wood,I chop wood.If you do them and other daily routine and 'boring' chores with 'alert intention' or awareness, you are on your way to the next level, you don't need to go to seek out some guru at the Himalayas! There are so many gems in this book that you really have to read slowly and stop reading frequently to sleep over it to get the message.
An Awakening Indeed!!! May 16, 2008 Being an Oprah fanatic, this book definately had to be read, moreso with the classes being offered online(which I am taking)I could not be left behind.
Eckhart shows the various ways the ego maifests itself in various forms.I liked the part where Eckhart says that every human has a dysfunction. it all depends on it's degree. And the begining of realizing one's sanity is the true conscious awakening.
This is book that prodes deep thinking in trying to identify the real "I" or the real "you". The moment you discover the ego in you then you become aware of yourself.
Takes time to understand it. Definately a best buy! Good job Eckhart.
BEING IN THE NOW May 16, 2008 One Day She'll Darken: The Mysterious Beginnings of Fauna Hodel
