Show; Don't Tell!: Secrets of Writing June 27, 2008 This book has good lesson ideas for descriptive writing; although, some of it is hard to follow and choppy. The recorded sound at the back of the book could be useful for some children, but I did not personally find it inspiring. I'd use it as a jumping off point.
A Picture Book That Teaches--How Wonderful! January 5, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After years of reading mind-numbing chldren's books that my kids thought were hilarious and gross and cute and cuddly--I wanted an illustrated book that taught them something they could use in school.
This is it.
Though I feel this book is a bit wordy (ironically), it gets my kids (ages 5-8) thinking and answering questions. It really gets their minds working, though in the illustrated format they still crave. And what they're learning from this book will have a positive impact on how they do their work in school.
