Product Description The railroad's got to run through the town of Rock Ridge. How do you drive out the townfolk in order to steal their land? Send in the toughest gang you've got...and name a new sheriff who'll last about 24 hours. But that's not really the plot of Blazing Saddles just the pretext. Once Mel Brooks' lunatic film many call his best gets started logic is lost in a blizzard of gags jokes quips puns howlers growlers and outrageous assaults upon good taste or any taste at all. Cleavon Little as the new lawman Gene Wilder as the wacko Waco Kid Brooks himself as a dim-witted politico and Madeline Kahn in her Marlene Dietrich send-up that earned an Academy Award nomination all give this sagebrush saga their lunatic best. And when Blazing Saddles can't contain itself at the finale it just proves the Old West will never be the same!Running Time: 93 min.System Requirements:Running Time: 93 MinutesFormat: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: COMEDY Rating: R UPC: 012569828384 Manufacturer No: 82838
Amazon.com Mel Brooks scored his first commercial hit with this raucous Western spoof starring the late Cleavon Little as the newly hired (and conspicuously black) sheriff of Rock Ridge. Sheriff Bart teams up with deputy Jim (Gene Wilder) to foil the railroad-building scheme of the nefarious Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman). The simple plot is just an excuse for a steady stream of gags, many of them unabashedly tasteless, that Brooks and his wacky cast pull off with side-splitting success. The humor is so juvenile and crude that you just have to surrender to it; highlights abound, from the lunkheaded Alex Karras as the ox-riding Mongo to Madeline Kahn's uproarious send-up of Marlene Dietrich as saloon songstress Lili Von Shtupp. Adding to the comedic excess is the infamous campfire scene involving a bunch of hungry cowboys, heaping servings of baked beans and, well, you get the idea. --Jeff Shannon

classic July 5, 2008 A1 movie some scenes did not transfer well to the blue ray. But overall good. Nice extra features
Details, details, details February 18, 2008 I have owned this film in all its formats, but watching it on a 1080p TV in Blu-ray gave me extra reasons to laugh. Even though I have memorized the dialog, I saw things in this version I hadn't seen in any other version formatted for TV. This movie was already on my top 10 favorites, Blu-ray just kicked it up. It was definitely worth buying the Blu-ray version.
Blazing Sadles in Blu Ray February 8, 2008 Blazing Saddles [Blu-ray] Blu-Ray rocks why is it that it was more funnier back then lol, but still very funny
Superlative silliness. A class comedy that stands the test of time. December 29, 2007 If ;you have a wonderfully warped sense of humor, and movie directed by Mel Brooks has to part of your DVD collection. Blazing Saddles is class Mel Brooks, and quite possibly his best production. See this once and you will be quoting lines from the dialogue for the rest of your life.
excellent quality October 5, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The only downside to this is that it is not a box set of all of Mel Brooks' movies in Blu-ray. I was curious to see what an older title such as Blazing Saddles would look like in Blu-ray and I was amazed. I don't know if the original master was just in excellent condition or if they had to go frame by frame and clean it up, but the detail level was astounding. Now if only Robin Hood Men in Tights was on Blu-ray, I'd be in Mel Brooks heaven.
