1 out of 5 stars This season should be renamed to Suckville   June 29, 2008

First let me state that I liked every other season of Smallville but this one. The reviews people have written remind me of people who know Star Wars Episodes I-III suck and refuse to say it because they're still attached to the good 'ol days of star wars. Well, the good 'ol days of smallville ended with season 6. Sure we knew that lana really didn't get killed off at the end of season six, but saying she used a clone in place of herself in order to fake her death is just lame. Lex giving up on lana? ha! He's a supervillain! They're insane! They don't give up! The rest is downhill, the season finale sucks. The writers don't leave you wanting more and from what i hear in Season 8 Michael Rosenbaum isn't going to be a regular. How can you continue this series without lex luthor. The only few bright spots in this season is 1: Lana is finally out of the picture..thank god, because she was really annoying 2: the way in which lionel dies 3: Veritas. Every season has had episodes that weren't up to par, but this was the worse. Hopefully, it will end with season 8. It would be hard for me to buy this season on DVD. If someone ever gives it to me it will probably collect dust on my shelf. The writers sure knew how to kill a great series. BRAVO!

1 out of 5 stars sucked just like seasons 5-6   June 19, 2008

This season sucked just like the rest. I would say that this is the poorest rendition of Superman, and the creators of Superman should be ashamed. Clark Kent is a wimp, and not even written well at all. Still whining to his mother by season 5. Save your money, and go watch a show like Heroes. This is a season where an episode can be so awesome, then just suck the next. Like the episode "Cure". I stopped watching before the episode "Hero". Plus this show is just a downer with relationships. I could go on and on why the show sucks, but I'll just stop right here. The writers must be on crack while writing this series. I have a feeling the 8th season will suck as well.

If the show sucks so much, then why can't I stop watching for good?? :(

5 out of 5 stars Smallville Season 7   June 15, 2008

Another great season packed with new surprises however,I don't see the logic behind having an 8th season (not just because Lex & Lana aren't going to be in many episodes next season) because as a former comic book reader/collector, Clark is a bit beyond the age of the comic book heros' departure from the farm to head up to the fortress (?; why did they destroy it?) to hone his powers and become Superman! I think, but I hope I'm wrong, they are going to dillute the entertainment value of this well played out show (dispite the changes they made in Supermans past) and push it to cancellation! It was a great ride, but it's time to "stop the presses"!

3 out of 5 stars A WEAK season, but I still can't stop watching SV...   June 6, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I don't know if it was the writers strike or just bad decisions, but this was definitely the weakest of the 7 seasons of Smallville.

Before this year there was not one episode of Smallville that I wouldn't (and didn't) enjoy watching again and again. I love this show! But over all this season was a disappointment, and there are some episodes I'd like to forget.

Lana and Clark's story, whether you like it or not, has been a major part (and draw) of the series and this year it took a very anti-climatic, bizarre, and out of character turn. Fans and detractors of the relationship alike were bitterly disappointed.

The addition of Kara (Laura Vandervoort) may have thrilled some comic book fans (and those who enjoy a lot of cleavage) but her story added very little to Smallville and actually distracted from other more interesting plot-lines. The WEAKEST episodes of the season featured Kara. Vandervoort is no doubt cute in her short shorts, but her acting skills really left something to be desired.

However, the most irritating thing about the addition of "Super-Barbie" was that she came in and FLEW before Clark. That had to have been one of the STUPIDEST decisions every made by TPTB on this show. Clark flying some day is a highly anticipated HUGE event... which has now been totally diluted.

Smallville over all has been an amazing show and given what has come before, I guess I have high expectations. But, even though this season was not up to par, I never once considered missing it, and will certainly buy the DVDs of season 7 to add to my collection.

On another note, Supernatural, which follows Smallville on the CW, absolutely ROCKED this season. Many weeks I enjoyed it more than SV. Both shows are MUST SEEs for me.
