This two volume series of books of photographs and analyses takes a
unique approach in telling the history of San Francisco Bay Area electric railways. It profiles both surviving and long since discontinued railways. In this case, the survivors are the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and the San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni). The other railway companies mentioned in both volumes are now defunct.
