Garden railroading January 21, 2008 It is a good basic book for someone new to the hobby. And I'm about as new as you can get.I also found Getting Started in garden Railroading by Allan Miller, very helpful.
Garden Railroading is a good place to start, but you'll need more! September 21, 2005 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Garden Railroading is a good place to start. It gave me some great general knowledge, but I have to admit it was missing some much needed information. I know nothing about small trains and was looking for more information as to the sizes available. Off to the hobby store (an hour away).
Good Collection of Great Articles September 1, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a collection of beginner-oriented articles from Garden Railroading magazine. This is not a single "how-to" source as much as it is a source of encouragement. It is also a great companion to Allan Miller's book, as it fills in some of the (admittedly small) gaps and shows a few alternative ways to accomplish things. Many people appreciate the great photos, which also appeared in Garden Railways magazine at one time. Authors include Jack Verducci, Pat Hayward, Marc Horovitz, Kevin Strong and many other best-known writers on the subject of Garden Railroading.

With gorgeous color photographs June 6, 2002 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Kalmbach Publishing is the premier publisher of "how to" books for the model railroading enthusiast. Their latest release, Garden Railroading: Getting Started In The Hobby, is a first-rate introductory guide to creating lush garden landscapes that incorporate working model railroads. Gorgeous color photographs fill this impressively detailed compilation that spells out the nuts and bolts mechanics of planning and building railroad tracks as surely as it covers the proper care of flowers and greenery. An excellent reference, and simply beautiful to leaf through, Garden Railroading is strongly recommended reading for model railroading buffs at all levels of expertise and experience.
