3 out of 5 stars THIS is not TWILIGHT   September 21, 2008
I"m a huge vampire fan and really enjoy reading how teen books handle it. This book is NOT like Twilight so if that is what you're looking for, look else were. This book is something that puts a new twist on the undead, which I found a little refreshing. I think Zoey is a strong female character who I falls victim of making teenage mistakes while tackling adult problems. The book really hammers the idea of loyalty alot which is a strength of the book.

The weakness for me (and for ALL of the books so far) is the pacing, way, way to fast. They span only a few days in the books and feels rushed at times where taking her time would be good. They do better in the next book, but I feel that there are characters who are talked about (like Zoey's sister) that I would have liked to see some exchange, and slow down the book. It would not suffered from another 150 pages in my opinion. But like I said this is how all the books suffer.

Otherwise very engaging story and I like the whole undead-dead idea of vampires.

5 out of 5 stars Vampire sexy   September 17, 2008
This book was great! It kept me reading and wanting more. It is very creative with the concept of vampires. It ties in the wiccan ideas with vampirism. great read cant wait to start book 2

5 out of 5 stars Marked is on the level   September 13, 2008
I didn't really know what to anticipate from this book series. But it got me hooked after the first few pages. I was really intrigued by the character zoey she get basically gets through in to this world. She's always felt as an outsider even in her own family. But then she finds out that she is even weirder than she thought.Plus her family is now upset that she is this. So basically zoey ends up at the school of night after going through most of the change. She finds friends.. Basically a really good book I think anyway. Sorry guys not really good at this reviews are hard to right for me anyway. This is not for everyone. As I am a major vampire book fan. If you like twilight as much as me then I think you may enjoy this. I read the series while waiting for breaking dawn and I enjoyed it very much. This book is really for an older crowd of teens even adults will like it. As I am 24.. Yes I enjoy young adult books as much as any young teen out there.

So if you want adventure into a new high school experience then read this. No vampire chick has been this cool.. hehe..

1 out of 5 stars Ripping off Rowling and Meyers   September 12, 2008

I am so disappointed! I cannot believe how closely the Casts are copying Harry Potter with a vampire (aka Stephenie Meyers) twist! Zoey= Harry Potter- the new student with special powers. The twins, Stevie Ray, and Damian= Hermione and Ron. Aphrodite and her clan= Draco Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle. With many similar plot lines to HP, it's unoriginality and sub-par text is beyond aggravating. I can't believe I wasted any money on these books. If you feel inclined to read these books, get them from the library so you can easily return them without putting a dent in your wallet.
