We bought the Collie as a gift for my Step-Mother. It has a remarkable likeness to her Sheltie. It's very cute and seems well made.

This is a nice toy. It is a very cute collie dog and is even more cute online.
All Webkinz come with a tag. Inside the tag there is a code that lets you into Webkinz World. Be careful though! If you lose the tag, you will not be able to access Webkinz World. You will need the tag if you ever need to change your password too, so don't throw it away after making your Webkinz account.
When you make your webkinz account, you will be greeted by a computer character named Ms. Birdy. She will lead you through the steps of adopting your webkinz, like creating a name for your webkinz pet, a username, the gender of your pet, and other steps like that. Don't worry about remembering your secret code because all you need to do is enter your username and password. Remember that your username is different than your pet's name.
When you are through the process of adopting your pet, you will be in your room. There you can see your pet walk around. You can also decorate your room. You can buy a room by pressing the map button in the upper left corner. There is a small room, a medium room, a large room, and a outdoor room. In the outdoor room you can buy seed packets and garden daily, you can place furniture in the outdoor room, but only certain items. House items you can't put in the outdoor rooms, and vice versa. There are some items that you can put inside and outside.
When you adopt a pet, you will start off with 2000 kinzcash. Kinzcash is what you use to buy furniture, food, games, decorations and more. You can earn kinzcash by playing games in the arcade and tournament arena. You can also get kinzcash by selling things.
Playing games is a good way to earn kinzcash. You can play games in the arcade, and the tournament arena. In the arcade there are lots of games. In the tournament arena, you play against real players. See below about kinzchat and friends. Anyway there are lots of other different games in the tournament arena. Some games in the tournament arena are not multi-player.
In the clubhouse you can make friends and chat with different people. Be aware that these are real people. With kinzchat, there are pre-made sentences that you use so there are no inappropriate words used. There are also no numbers, so personal information such as addresses and phone numbers can not be shared. You can also make friends. With friends you can invite them over to to your house and invite them to play multiplayer games with you.
You have to feed your pet, and keep it happy and healthy. Webinz CAN NOT die, but can get sick. When they get sick you have to bring it to Dr. Quack's Clinic. You might also want to bring your pet when it's not sick so your pet can have a checkup.
There are 2 places to shop. At the W-Shop you can find everything, and sometimes things are on sale. There is also the Curio Shop where you might find rare items. Arte Fact greets you at the Curio Shop. You can also do a gem hunt daily. If you get all 30 gems you get a Crown of Wonder.
There are some daily things you can do, like The Wishing Well 2 and the Wheel of WOW. Also you can do a gem hunt ( see above ), do a job at the Employment Office, do a daily care award, and garden.
There are a few other things I should mention. Quizzy's is a educational quiz corner with lots of questions for all ages. It is the fastest way to earn kinzcash. When you log in you will always arrive at the newspaper. The newspaper changes every week usually on Wednesday, and Thursday. Sometimes the front cover story changes more often to announce important things.
Sometimes there is a glitch in the site when the site is busy. You can have better luck getting on in the afternoon or morning. Weekends and evenings are VERY busy.

Our oldest wants a real dog, so was excited about the collie. We had no problems setting it up on the computer because we already had an account. Be careful though when setting up an account. Our 7 year old was extremely dissappointed when something went wrong with the set-up and there is no way to fix it, so we were never able to get our very first webkinz on the computer to play with it. That is a flaw in their system. Also you should be aware that the computer game access is only free for one year, then a parent must pay a subscription fee for the child to continue playing online!(This is not disclosed when you buy the toy, only after). All in all the kids love webkinz.

Twix (my collie's name) was a big surprise to me. But I instantly fell in love with it and play with it to this day. Although the hair can be a bit irritating since it is so stringy, you constantly have to brush it to make it look good. Oh, and if you ever want to wash it, DO NOT put it in the washer and dryer. All it does is poof up the hair and it refuses to go back to normal. But a great toy none the less and a great pet for young ones!
