Originating as the Wichita Falls & Northwestern and later combining the Beaver, Meade & Englewood under Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad's ownership, Katy's Northwestern system radiated from Wichita Falls, Texas, into the Oklahoma panhandle. Although the primary purpose of these branch lines was to haul agricultural products, during its peak, the Katy was also flush with the short-lived traffic of an oil and liquid pertroleum gas boom. The Katy Northwest ceased running in 1973.
