Product Description
Fully updated to take into account route and timetable changes, this is the only book available specifically designed for US train travel. Rugged charm sets the train apart from more mundane means of transport and its ecological soundness is again in fashion. Pampered by helpful attendants, you can travel from coast to coast, explore the Rocky Mountains and ride directly alongside two oceans. Less expensive than flying and more comfortable than the bus, the train keeps you relaxed and in touch with an ever-changing landscape as the world becomes a framed but moving picture.

USA by Rail review July 24, 2010 Jan It was a very disappointing book. Most of the VERY limited information is outdated. By the title and blub, I thought it
would give information on what could be viewed along the way. I could get as much information as the book gives, from the
Amtrak web site.
Great for Planning May 4, 2010 Michael Baybutt (SE England) Great book that we are using to plan our trip for this Summer. Happy to recommend.
Excellent guide May 1, 2010 Larry B. Woodroof (Knoxville, TN) This is perfect for know what is streaming past the window of your train, but its one downfall is that you can't stop the train to explore!
Ride The Rails April 13, 2010 J. Forrest (Roy, UT USA) I have not finished reading all of Mister Pits book but what I have augments the AMTRAK and Via Rail web sites with truly essential information. I am fortunate enough to be able to skip travel by airplane. I have seen that mode of travel decay for many years and have been heartily disappointed in it. The future of this country needs rail with more high speed corridors. It also needs an educated public who can see the benefit of truly luxurious economy travel. This book is a must if you intend to enjoy travel again and will repay it's cost the first time you schedule a trip. If you need to be nickel and dimed to death, jammed into a tiny seat with dubious air quality after being frisked and treated like cattle don't even think about rail travel. But, if you have time and a desire to see this country not as a bunch of irrigation motifs from a hazy often smeared little window buy this book and then a ticket to see America close up and personal.
USA by Rail 7th ed February 8, 2010 Greg (Texas) If you are planning a US trip by RV or Rail, this is a great book. The book gives information about the many cities that the trains pass trough. Great for travel planning.
