We bought a few switches to make our basic loop more fun. The switch comes with a quarter turn piece of track. You can change the side that the switch post is on from the left to the right. This is helpful since the post can get in the way on some layouts. It is well built and trains make it smoothly across the switch without derailing. They are a bit expensive, but it makes your train set more fun. Be careful when ordering because there is a left hand and right hand switch.
