Product Description
Originally carrying passengers through the Blue Ridge mountains from Johnson City, Tennessee to Boone, North Carolina was the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad (ET&WNC). Operating today and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you’ll understand this train’s nickname when you hear the “Tweetsie’s” whistle echoing across the valleys of the Blue Ridge.

A Real Big Model Train for Inside or Outside August 20, 2007 The Bachmann company makes more model trains than almost anyone in the world. They started making Large Scale trains (the kind you use for Garden Railroading, also called G Scale) in the 1980s, and have been steadily improving their product line ever since. If you're thinking of using this train out of doors, you'll want to buy track for it - the track that comes with it works fine around the Christmas Tree but isn't made for outdoor use. Other than that, this train is one of the best values in the hobby. All metal wheels mean that the track doesn't get as dirty, and it has a lower center of gravity, so it runs more reliably than some trains. The paint job is professional and eye-catching. In fact, folks have been known to use this as a Christmas train because of the beautiful green color.
Bachmann tends to make these in batches, so if you like this particular color combination, get it soon.

Quality gone from Gemany's trains. December 18, 1999 29 out of 32 found this review helpful
I always wanted a "G" series train. However, I was very disappointed With the Quality of this train and the required use of batteries to run the sound and passenger car lights. I had anticipated that a German company's product would be like their automobiles. But, since this train was made in China qualty went out the windows and plastic parts came in
Loved It December 9, 1999 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
The set was supposed to be for my 5-year old son, yet I think I appreciated it more than he does. High quality craftmanship and heavy gauge wiring. The E-Z Track System was very easy to assemble. Powerful transformer should you decide to add more trains later on.
Whoopeee! And it fits under the Christmas tree. August 26, 1999 28 out of 34 found this review helpful
This is a great starter set for your kids. Large and easy to play with for little hands for durable play value, and best of all they stay off of Daddy's really expensive trains. Put down that work from the office and play with your kids. They'll grow up too fast on you.
