Product Description Godon's the senior member of the engine family, the fastest and most powerful engine on the rails. Based on the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends TV show, The Thomas Wooden Railway System sparks children's creativity while teaching problem solving, developing fine motor skills, and promoting social interaction. Exceptionally well made, each piece of the Thomas Wooden Railway System is handmade from New England Hard Maple and other renewable hardwoods and elaborately detailed.
Editorial Review Gordon is a long, blue express locomotive who supplies water for Thomas and tows a coal tender. Based on the award-winning PBS television series Shining Time Station by the Rev. W. Awdry, the Thomas the Tank train system is the perfect child's train set. Each wooden vehicle has a different name, character, and face. The magnetic bumpers make linking up easy. Friendly characters will engage your child in hours of imaginary play. Designed to support your child's development, the system encourages the use of new motor and cognitive skills. --Sandy Hirsch

A Thomas & Friends must; but too pricey September 24, 2008 I was a railway fanatic when I was a little child; and now my son is, too, and probably more so than I ever was, thanks to the art and science of modern marketing. He wants Thomas this and Thomas that. He loves Gordon -- I guess most kids love Gordon because he's big and powerful. This hardwood toy looks nice, but doesn't seem very durable -- my son dropped it once and the wheel bases got really loose, to the point that we may need to buy another one. Also, these toys are made in China, and the trees they cut down to make these are from China, too, so I guess the cost to manufacture is probably 50 cents, but they charge U.S. consumers twenty bucks. Makes me wish I were in the toys trade.

My son loves Thomas and is a big fan of Gordon. Nice train which works on any set of tracks, even off brands which are much less expensive than the Thomas track set. I can't comment on durability as we have only had the train for one week but it seems like it may last us through my second son!
Gordon is essential for Thomas lovers February 18, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son has started collecting and playing with the Thomas Wooden Railway products. Gordon is essential to that collection and my son LOVES HIM! The quality of the train is very good - especially when he gets handled and played with alot!

Realizing this was the wrong item I made an effort to change the order within 30-45 minutes of placing it. It was sent in spite of my efforts to exclude it and now needs to be returned at my expense. I just feel a little effort could have saved a lot of precious resources at both ends.
We love Gordon! March 8, 2006 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
My son is a huge fan of Thomas the Tank Engine and had been talking about Gordon for weeks when he received it. We are delighted with our purchase.
